MORE MANLY CARDS FOR CFH

Another card to send to CFH. I am trying so hard to make cards that will appeal to men. So hard, I much prefer pink and girl stuff! Stars are stamped with a wood grain stamp (hero arts), flourish (hero arts) and sentiment (papertrey ink).

Cards for Heros Blog Hop starts on Sat 3:00 est!

In Feb I decided I needed to do something to give back. With the Michigan economy all you hear of is doom and gloom. I have full time job, so the hours had to be on the weekend or week nights. I was having a hard time finding something to fit my schedule. That is when I saw on Jennifer McGuire's blog information about Cards for Hero's! I sent my first box of over 200 cards. I am getting ready to send my send box next week. See below some of the cards that will be in the box!
I am hoping with my little card creations here on Altadena Avenue that I can bring a smile to the face of both the service men and women and the person who is receiving the card. Nothing beats a hand written note to the loved ones back home.
Welcome to the blog hop if you popped on to my blog without starting with number one go to:http://cardsforheroes.org/storage/boarddocs/blogdeeplinks.htm

This little fellow is made with dog stamp (silvercrow creations) he actually does have a flag in the mouth, I just thought it added more impact to put a real flag in his mouth. Background letters (Martha Stewart), star and days of the week (Purple Onion).

Butterfly stamp (Basic Grey), pattern paper (Basic Grey) and flourishes (Hero Arts)

These are quick cards (once I typed the stars and stripes into my computer)! Stars on the right are little tooth picks from Pier One. Stars on left are foam from Michael's.

When I was making my other cards I heard a TV interview done with this little boy who father is deployed in Iraq. He was saying that his father has never seen him play a little league baseball game. They give up some much to serve this great country! I thought these were good little cards for our service men or women to send to their little super stars back home. All stamps Purple Onion.
Thanks a ton for taking time to visit my blog and taking part in the Cards for Hero's blog hop! The next person is Dana, according to what I saw on her blog she is doing this to honor her friend who husband is serving! What I sweet friend! Kwerner Color Inspiration 52

When I saw the color combo of this challenge this am, I was not too sure how to approach my card creation. I was happy that I had stampin up inks and markers of these colors, which helped me out a lot!! This am I was also cleaning out my craft room so I saw a lot of stamps that I have not used in a while. I also needed to make some sympathy cards for my stash. I actually made of bunch of monochromatic cards kind of like the one above, which gave me this idea. I am happy how this came and I am really loving this color combo.
All stamps stampin up besides sentiment papertrey ink. TFL

Pattern paper that I really love right now!!

I am really, really loving this new paper from K & company. See my other cards done a couple of days back. It is designed by Carolyn Gavin. If you been to a book store recently you may have noticed some eco journals with great prints? She is the person who designed these. I love the combo of her paper and the basic grey small sets of stamps. Seems to work well together. Leaf and fish stamps colored in with pencils and then added some gel pen accents. Sentiment on top card hero arts and bottom card paptery ink.

Caardvark's don't quote me inspiration two!

I really liked this challenge. My dad loves quotes, this is one of his favorites. Of course did not have a stamp with this quote so I did it on the computer. Leaf and flower stamp from basic grey. Colored with pencils and added some gel pen accents. All pattern paper from K & Company.

Kwerner Color Inspiration #51

This is for challenge 51. For some reason I really struggle with the color inspiration challenges. I usually can make cards pretty quick, but for some reason when I have a limited amount of colors it is a struggle!! Leaf stamp is hero arts. Little star brads not too sure who made them. Large flower is from prima. Check brad in center is from target hot spot and brown flower is from stampin up.

Caardvards do not quote me challenge!

All pattern paper from K & Company. I think it is a new line, just saw it at Michael's. Quote is from Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz collection). Background done with cuttlebug embossing folder. Label die cuts from spellbinders. Leaf stamp K & Company. TLF

Cuttlebug Challenge Two!

I decided to make another card for the Jennifer McGuire challenge over at the cuttlebug blog. I was making sympathy cards for a friend so I decide to submit another card. This time I used paper that had a white core with the embossing folder from cuttlebug, making it easier to sand and see an outcome. After I sanded I rubbed white opal liquid pearls on the top surface. All stamps by Papertrey Ink. Around the bird I also used a cuttlebug square folder to make it stands out better. The card is actually a brighter green, took pictures outside and in but still coming up washed out?? TLF!!! Happy National Scrapbook weekend!

Cuttlebug challenge for spa weekend!

This card was made for the cuttlebug challenge inspired by Jennifer McGuire. I sanded the background black paper and then went over it with white ink. Also dressed the orange circle the same way. Letter stamps from K& Company. Pattern paper basic grey. Graduation card for a boy!!
