I made my two mother's day cards awhile back. One for my mom and one for my mother in-law. I can only find one??? So I made my mom a new one with my new supplies! Finally got the Tim Holtz's embossing folders and cut out some of his new die cut flowers.

I have been sick on and off the last 2 1/2 months. It all started back on Feb 22nd shoveling some very heavy snow. I was outside for awhile and started to get chest pains. I went inside and sat down. Once I sat down I felt find and really did not think twice about the pains. I am 41 and in pretty good health. Well, the chest pains started to happen more often. After a couple of rounds to my regular doctor and some ideas and some meds. The pain was not going away, so one am my husband and I made a trip to the ER. After a heart cath to actually rule out any heart problems I was on my merry way. Too bad I still had the pain! I also had to get a nuclear stress test. All clear, which I guess I should be thankful for, but still in pain. I have now also seen a pulmonary doctor who did finally put me on steroids. Well the steroids are helping, but can not be on them forever. I think they are leaning that it is a muscleskeltor issue, but no one really wants to say that.

The steroids are a 6 day pack, so I feel fine on them and about 4 days after. So I have been on them already twice and might need to start my third round again. I pretty much go to work so I do not lose my job and come home and try to relax. I have realized if you hurt your chest there is a lot of things that can be wrong with you!!!!!!!!!!! I am so frustrated, the pain only happens when I am moving. So I have not walked my dog in 2 1/2 months which was my main form a exercise. I just want my pain to go away and do normal things. I know what ever I have could be way worse, so I should not complain. I feel like I can not do anything. Which leads me to the lack of post, I just am in a funk.

My favorite thing is to make cards, but this sickness is just making me depressed. So I have not been creating much. This weekend I was feeling better since I just finished round two of steroids. I decided to go to the scrapbook convention. I noticed too late that Tim Holtz was teaching three classes, but already sold out. Lucky for me he was still doing demos at the stampers anonymous booth. It was nice to see him is person, he was very funny and was nice to see live demos. So above is one of my cards inspired by Tim.

This weeks challenge at Cards blog is to incorporate wood grain into your card. It can be with stamps, pattern paper, etc... I love wood grain. I think I need to buy the wood grain texture plate that is new over at papertrey. Bird and sentiment are basic grey. Pattern paper also from basic grey. Large wood grain stamp is all night media and script from stamp camp.

Caardvarks Lace Challenge

I do really like cards with lace and ones that look more vintage. I just do not think it is my style, I have a hard time combining too many patterns, elements etc... I saw the caardvarks challenge this week and I knew I had just the right paper to add with lace. I got my most recent scrapbook kit and this paper was on the bottom. I walked by it for days and the more I saw the paper the more I knew it was for my card with lace. The pattern paper is webster pages and the elements are all kraisercraft. I actually made two of these, so I think it will be this years mother's day cards from my mom and mother-n-law. Good thing they do know how to find my blog!

Distressed Birthday Card

I love my Martha Stewart scoring board. I scored the back of the card I think every 3/4". Stamped the damask boarder between the scores. Then stamped the other image three different times in three colors on a 2" square. I distressed the edges on both the card and square. All of the ink is distressed ink, the orange is the new wild honey and the blue is the new tumbled glass. Green is the old shabby shutters!

Here is a clean, simple and basic wedding card. I stamped with my wood grain stamp (hero arts) on white card stock with antique linen ink (ranger/tim holtz). Then stamped the flower image (stampin up) on white card stock with the same ink. Cut out around the stamped image and stamped the sentiment with black ink. Used a circle template and pierced the wood grain image. Added pearls (michaels) and fuzzy white tread.

Ok, my BIG present for Christmas and for my Birthday (it is in Jan) was money towards this baby! I love it, I need to take some classes. So I really did not think I was getting anything else. I call this my big girl camera! I do, do really love my camera. Though I really, really, really love this gift! My dad for years said that he was going to make a licence plate map. We first saw one I think at the house of blue and I think it cost about $6,000 or so. Now there is one at Greenfield Village, which I think is about $5,000. Every year I take a day off work in the summer and my dad and I go to the Village for a day. We always stop to see the licences plate map. Well this summer he started cutting out the plates one by one. I had NO idea that this was done. Also when he was making it I was told he was making it for their cottage. Well to my sisters and my suprise at Christmas, he actually made two. One for her and one for me!!! He is now working on his. It weighs a ton, so today he came over and hung it at my house. I LOVE IT!

I wanted to make some more Valentines Day card for a local store that are collecting them for seniors. I already sent out more then 100 to Operation Write Home, so I am feeling a little burnt out from v-day already. I decided make one of my cards based on Kristina's color inspiration. When I was on line this am I stumbled on Creativity by Crystal's website and found this free kit of Christmas paper. Well I really liked the paper and did not think all of them looked all that Christmas. So all pattern paper from Crystal, heart is a metal paint chip that I just cut out in the shape of a heart. Sentiment was printed on one of the pattern papers in mustard and saffron. Just used a little yellow, just like the fabrics. TFL!

Operation write home Valentine's Day cards!

Some Valentine's Day cards that will be sent to Operation Write Home. I think the deadline for Valentine's Day is early Jan. I am so happy not to be making Christmas cards, tags, etc.... It is nice to have another holiday to focus on!! The top card hearts (invoke arts) and letters (stampin up). The middle card wings (tim holtz) and sentiment and heart (invoke arts). The bottom cards is my card based on some new papertrey stamps. I have not purchased the stamps since I am suppose to be saving for vacation. So I found some circus type fonts and the web and made a background paper. The heart is also a font that I enlarged for this card.

Well it has finally snowed here in southern MI and finally looking like Christmas. Here is a couple of pictures that I took with my new Nikon D5000! It is a Christmas present that I got early, so I could figure out how to use it for Christmas. We I can at least take a picture with the new toy. Easy bake oven recipe book

I made this recipe book for my niece Anna. I bought her an easy bake oven for Christmas. The oven comes with two mixes and then I bought her 3 other packages. Boy are the pre-made packages expensive (for what they are!) I searched for easy bake oven recipes and found some! So I decided to make a first recipe book to go with her oven. So loves to help cook, so I think she will enjoy. Front cover- all cosmo cricket pattern paper and elements except for the letter.
Inside cover and the printed recipe cards. I copied them from the site: www.kido.org and put the text into corel draw. I changed the font and the format.

Kitchen Sink and Lucy Challenge

I do not normally combine challenge cards. I tend to lose focus, so I design one theme at a time. For some reason this kind of fell together for two challenges. This card is totally copied by Kristina Werner. She made a card just like this last week. I have had this piece of paper left over from some other cards that I made and I just kept looking at the paper on my desk. Well last week I was inspired by Kristina. I used the 12x12 paper so my little monsters took up more room. I also changed the sentiment, I thought it would be a great card for my nephew when he was done with swimming class or something to be proud of the accomplishment. I did not add the flowers since my paper was already bigger. I also added fake stitching! Thanks Kristina for always inspiring!!

Cosmo Cricket earth line is so sweet. Such pretty soft colors and designs. Pretty basic and easy card. Cut a strip of paper and added some chip board elements from the set. Added a Martha Stewart ribbon and added a button.

Using some of my new sassafras flower die cuts! Stacked some flower and added on layer of a stamped circle to match the background paper. Ran core'dinations paper through my big shot with circle embossing folder and sanded paper. Added a strip of sassafras paper over background. Added sentiment rub on (american crafts).

In honor of world card making day on Oct 3rd. I decided to make five different cards for each day of the count down. I am posting them all today since I will not be around much this week! I was off work today and decided to sit down and have some fun. The above card is very basic. I stamped the background by impressions obsessions with white ink. Then stamped the flourish stamp ( magenta) and sentiment (endless creations). Added a little ribbon and then added the colorbok forest friends chip board piece with foam dot.

I feel like I really struggle with "boy" birthday cards. The other day I was out walking Brigg's and saw a group of younger guys and they all had shirts with lots of different patterns and flourish. So I decided to base a card off of those shirts. I am actually super happy with my grunge cards! Perfect for the guys 10-25! Background stamp invoke rubber stamps, flourish and cake magenta.

I needed to make a thank you card for a recent dinner invitation, but I also saw that moxie fab world had a little housewares challenge. So the card was made for both purposes, love when that happens. Flatware stamp is all night media, background stamp is hero arts, scallops are purple onion and sentiment is papertrey ink.

OK so I have been on a Christmas card kick. I actually have my Christmas cards already done! My actual card is not posted on my blog, I did not want anyone to see a sneak peak! I have tons of Christmas stamps, I actually think I might be addicted to buying them. I think I need to put them away and work on some other holiday. So I think this is last of the Christmas cards or maybe for a little while! Background is stamped with light pink ink. I used a stampin up snowflake wheel. The trees are from Impression Obsession, love this stamp. I stamped on hound's tooth pink paper. Both pattern papers from making memories.

This card is actually based on a card that I saw in the new issue of papercrafts holiday cards. I actually used this snowflake flourish on my sisters cards last year. All stamps are from inkadinkado. Since you can used glitter on cards for hero's ( you do not want the service people to have glitter on their uniforms!) I added some gems, Christmas cards always need some bling.

I bought this card pattern paper on all of these cards from the target dollar section! I LOVE, LOVE these papers. They are in 4 x 6 format. They are just too cute. Little skull stamp is from the imagence. The witch, pumpkins, sentiments and bird are all from a Halloween set from making memories. More Cards for troops on Sunday, I have been busy! Makes me feel good to send a big box out, especially since the holidays are coming up!

More of my new stamps! I have gone to this convention for many years now. This year it was more exciting since in MI so many of our small stamp relator's have closed. The couple that are still around I try to frequently shop, but they have a hard time carrying a good variety of different stamp brands. Joanns and Michaels are good for the basic, but hard to find so great creative new stamps. Here is one of many favorites that I bought. I like it because it is good for a guy birthday or retirement cards, but also is a great design. It is designed by Leigh Hannan for impressions obsessions. Her stamps are great! I colored it in with colored pencil (no I have not gotten the copic bug yet). Sentiment from papertrey ink!

I went to the rubber stamp convention in Novi, MI over the weekend. I love this little chick in the plane. He is actually cover with sparkles (can not tell in photo). This card was actually inspired by a card on Dawn McVey's blog. She stamped polka dots and then text over the dots to create a background. So this is my take on creating a similar background. Pattern paper by cosmo cricket. I distresses the edges. Sentiment by papertrey ink. Circle stamp in the background is papertrey ink and text is stamp camp.
